Fundraising & Events

What makes our school an even better place to learn? It’s special events!  MPS Advisory Council hosts different events throughout the year that help enrich school life and foster our school community. We all look forward to a special event – kids and grown-ups alike! Some of these occasions have become annual MPS traditions, others are new ideas that we want to try. But all of them are F-U-N!

Examples of special events that have been held in the past are:

  • Meet-the-Teacher Family Fun Night
  • Movie in the Gym Nights
  • Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Additionally, certain LARGER events are so much fun that we need separate committees to organize them. Council has been pleased to host these events in recent years:

  • Kids’ Holiday Gift Bazaar
  • Spring Fair and Silent Auction

We couldn’t put on any of these events without the help of volunteers, so if you can spare a few hours when the call goes out, we really appreciate the help. Please be generous with your time!

NEXT EVENT!!

Annual Holiday Bazaar
Thursday, December 5 2019

The Annual Holiday Bazaar is fast approaching. Each year, we ask MPS families to donate lightly used or new items from their home as we set up a unique and safe shopping experience for our students who will enjoy carefully picking and choosing the perfect donated item for each member of their family. Thank you to the families that have already donated items. We are in need of many more items to make sure this event is enjoyed by all of our students.

The cost will be $3/gift and the students will purchase a gift for each member of their family. This payment can be done through the Hot Lunches website https://manotick.hotlunches.net/

There will be helpers in the gym on Thursday December 5 to do the gift wrapping, and this will allow your child to surprise you all with a little something special over the holidays.

To make this exciting tradition a success, we ask parents to bring the donations in and drop them off at the office by Friday November 29. We also ask that the number of items donated match the number of people your child will be shopping for; this will assure that we have enough items for all students.  Please remember, the best donations are items that you would like to receive as gifts yourself.
If you don't have any items to donate, you can make a monetary donation through the Hot Lunches website to allow us to buy gifts on your behalf for the Holiday Bazaar.

The holiday helpers are also looking for donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, and plastic bags for the children to wrap and carry their gifts home.
